In Tamilnadu, all the districts of the State have received excess amount of rainfall during the North east Monsoon season this year. An amount of 14 to 106 percent excess rainfall has been recorded by the Met Department.Meanwhile, the Rain lashing the state have reduced significantly. Ramanathapuram experienced heavy rains accompanied by strong winds yesterday night. The Secretary of Rameswaram Port Mechanised Fishermen Association Mr. N.Devadoss said that over 700 boats from Rameswaram and 500 boats from Mandapam did not venture into the sea.AIR correspondent Joy reports from Chennai that Chennai woke up to a sunny morning today. Schools and colleges have re opened. But still the civic body officials are busy in clearing water in low lying areas as people are stranded. As the depression over the Bay of Bengal has crossed Andhra coast today, rains have decreased.
