<span style="color: #222222;">In Tamil Nadu, the School Education Department has formed a committee to recommend the ways to make good the loss of school workdays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure quality in the teaching-learning process. Led by the Commissioner of School Education, the 12-member team has been asked to formulate an action plan on leveraging technology including online facilities.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 infected patients in the state has gone up to 9,674 with the confirmation of 447 more people today. The new cases include 363 in Chennai. The city shares more than half of the total caseload in the state. In all, 64 people were discharged today while two others lost their lives. AIR correspondent reports  Tamil Nadu Medical Experts Committee met the State Chief Minister today and favoured relaxing the restrictions in a graded way once the lockdown phase-3 draws to a close on Sunday. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The World Health Organization Chief Scientist Dr Soumya Swaminathan joined the meet through online from Geneva. The experts have stressed that the spike in number of patients should not be a cause of worry as it only means more of the potential infection agents have been identified, isolated and treated so that they themselves and others are all safe. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The experts said, testing reveals the disease clusters for giving more focus to the needy areas. In a pandemic, they said, waves of infected cases should not be a surprise and asked the current pace of testing to be maintained or even increased. The State Government is expected to take a call on the nature of the lockdown after 17th May by taking into account their views and the Centre's impending announcements.</span>
