In Tamil Nadu, nearly four lakh people have been screened for symptoms of the novel coronavirus infection and other diseases. <br />'' <br />'' The initiative has been taken under the containment plan that is in operation in twelve districts including Chennai where Covid-19 cases have been reported. The government has said the surveillance would continue for more days. <br />'' <br />'' A radius of five kilometres around the house of a known Covid-19 case is named as containment zone and an additional two kilometres as the buffer zone. Field level health workers visit the houses falling within the zones and inquire about the health conditions of all those staying in them. <br />'' <br />'' Thermal screening is also done. If any contacts of those Covid-19 patients are not available in their houses, information on their present whereabouts is being collected so that they could be traced and quarantined.  <br />'' <br />'' Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, seven new cases of Covid-19 have been reported today, taking the total to 74. All are those with travel history to places in other states affected by the novel coronavirus including Delhi. <br />'' <br />'' The patients are at isolation and the state health department has said they are stable. Currently, the active cases in the state are 68, as five of them have been discharged after recovery. One patient died of the disease earlier.<br />'' <br />'' AIR correspondent reports, as the days go by under lockdown, the level of compliance has observably gone up with people coming to terms with the reality of the Covid-19 situation. The government has established dedicated telephone lines in each district for counselling to help those in need. To overcome any problem of shortage of doctors and paramedical staff, the state government has issued an order to employ those who retire today on superannuation for two more months on a temporary basis. <br />''  <br />
