<span style="color: #222222;">Tamil Nadu logged more than 12-thousand 600 new Covid cases yesterday. The State Government has said it has sufficient stock of RT-PCR kits and medical oxygen in its hospitals.<br />'' <br />'' In a statement, Chief Secretary Rajiv Ranjan said, out of the nearly 55-thousand beds in government hospitals meant for Covid treatment, more than 65 percent have been connected with high flow oxygen cannulas. About 240 tons of liquid oxygen are being used in the state every day. The chief secretary has said the requirement may increase in the coming days as the caseload is moving up.<br />'' <br />'' In Chennai, where the numbers are very high, more and more beds are being provided with the cannulas. He has also said the drug Remdesivir is available even in all the taluk level hospitals and its stock is sufficient for another 20 days. To replenish the stock, a fresh order has been placed for the purchase of one lakh vials of the lifesaving medicine. Vaccination is also being promoted in a vigorous manner in the state.<br />'' <br />'' Tamil Nadu Government has unveiled a plan to conduct vaccination camps in most workplaces from the 1st May, once the youth over the age of 18 also become eligible to take it. The state administration has said the camps will be held for all kinds of workers including migrant labourers, construction workers, retail traders, teachers and government staff.<br />'' <br />'' In response to reports of wastage of vaccination doses, the state administration has clarified that wastage will come down in the coming days. It has said, a single vial can be used for up to twenty persons but during the initial stages, the number of people coming forward to take it within the permitted four hours of opening the vials has been less than 20 leading to the wastage.<br />'' <br />''<br />''However, the situation has changed now, as more and more people line up for getting the doses administered. Therefore the wastage has been reduced from ten to five percent and is set to come down further, as the demand is expected to go up from May 1st. </span><br />
