Tamil Nadu: HC scraps tenders worth Rs 2650 cr for violation of norms

<span style="color: #222222;">The Madras High Court has scrapped tenders worth 2650 crore rupees in Tamil Nadu for violation of norms.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The state rural development department is said to have floated the tenders for the development of rural roads in the state. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The funding is being made by the Centre as per the 14th Finance Commission recommendations. A batch of petitions was filed against the tenders saying they should have been approved by the village panchayats concerned.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">After hearing both the sides, the court held that floating of tenders for rural road works directly by the government bypassing the village panchayats is against the laid out procedures.</span><br />''
