Tamil Nadu govt to purchase COVID vaccines through global tender

Tamil Nadu government has decided to purchase COVID vaccines through global tender. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin today released a statement emphasising the need to purchase more vaccines for people aged from 18 to 45 years. The government has also called for an all party meeting to discuss the COVID situation tomorrow evening. <br />''<b><i><br />''</i></b>AIR Correspondent reports, considering the increase in the number of COVID cases and the urgent need for vaccination within a limited period of time, Chief Minister Stalin said that vaccines would be purchased through global tender. He said that the Centre's allocation of 13 lakh vaccines will not be able to meet the demand. He also appealed for an increase in the allocation of oxygen to the state. <br />''<br />''The Chief Minister also instructed the Ministers of his cabinet to look into ways and methods of manufacturing oxygen in the state and also distribute oxygen coming from the other states meticulously to the needy hospitals in the districts. The Chennai Corporation will be using INNOVA type cars as ambulances for patients who don't need oxygen facilities. <br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi said that people with milder symptoms needing medical attention will be treated in the ambulances. The government has also instructed people not to panic but check themselves and take proper treatment at tertiary hospitals for the pandemic thereby breaking the chain of spread.</span><br />
