The Tamil Nadu government has decided to recommend a CBI probe into the death of Sadiq Batcha, key aide of former Telecom Minister A Raja. In a statement, Principal Home Secretary, K Gnanadesikan said that since Batcha was under investigation by the CBI, the state government decided to transfer the suicide case also to the investigating agency. He said, the Tamil Nadu police has filed a case of suicide based on a complaint by Batcha's wife, Reha Banu. Batcha on Wednesday committed suicide at his residence in Chennai but opposition parties have raised doubts over the circumstances of his death.
