National Disaster Rescue force had rescued 22,450 people from the flood affected areas of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram and Cuddalore districts and continues to serve the people through relief. In an exclusive interview to AIR today, the DIG of NDRF Mr. Gulleria said that 1715 trained personnel had landed at Arakkonam Naval Air Base on the first of this month. <br/><br/>Equipped with 18 satellite phones, 1523 life jackets, 96 divers,1047 life buoys and 194 boats the rescue teams had to brave inundated areas, flash floods and continuous heavy rains. The DIG told that the control rooms had received calls from various countries also and rose to the occasion immediately to rescue people. He said more than one lakh 26 thousand food packets were distributed to the affected in the relief camps.<br/>
