In Tamil Nadu, as campaign reaches a feverish pitch, the two major Dravidian parties leading formidable fronts are aggressively wooing voters, in what could turn to be a close battle for the ballot.Meanwhile, for the first time, the election authorities have begun distributing voter slips to the voters. The slips would help voters know the serial numbers , parts of the electoral rolls and polling stations in which they had to exercise their franchise.AIR correspondent reports, this is the first assembly election after delimitation exercise was completed. New constituencies have emerged while a number of them have been wiped out. Quiet a few sitting MLA’s were left without their erstwhile constituencies and had to look out for new ones to contest Delimitation led to 53 constituencies being lost in 23 districts. In Chennai, five new constituencies have been carved out and the number of assembly seats have also increased to 16. Sholinganallur, near Chennai, a new constituency is the biggest in terms of voter count with three lakh forty thousand voters. Kilvelur in Nagapattinam district is the smallest with just 1,40,000 voters. Post delimitation voters in state are still getting to know the constituencies where they are registered as voters.
