The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption, DVAC arrested an Enforcement Directorate officer in Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu on charges of collecting 20 lakh rupees bribe from a Government doctor by threatening to reopen an old case.<br />'' <br />''The official was nabbed after being chased by the Police vehicle at Dindigul. The incident pertains to a Government doctor in the case pertaining to disproportionate assets at Dindigul in 2018. It is said that the accused Enforcement Directorate officer had demanded 51 lakh rupees as bribe to close the case. Doctor had paid him 20 lakh rupees on November 1st this year and the officer had demanded that the remaining amount of 31 lakh rupees be paid yesterday night. On information to the DVAC, accused officer was caught redhanded as the chemical smeared money was kept in the vehicle in which he had travelled. The Vigilance officials grilled him for twelve hours before arresting him today. At the sametime, the DVAC officials also raided the Enforcement Directorate office at Madurai. CRPF police personnel have been deployed at the office for security purposes.
