Tamil Nadu Congress MLA Vijayadharani joins BJP

Three time Congress MLA and the whip of the Congress legislature Party Vijayadharani, who was elected from the Vilavancode constituency in Tamilnadu's Kanyakumari district, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at New Delhi on Saturday(24th February 2024).<br />''<br />''Vijayadharani, the great granddaughter of eminent Tamil poet Kavimani Desiga Vinayagam Pillai, resigned from the Congress Party before joining BJP in the presence of the Party's National General Secretary Arun Singh and Union Minister L. Murugan.<br />''<br />''She was first elected to the Tamilnadu Assembly in 2011 from Vilavancode, from where she went on to consecutively win the next two assembly elections.<br />'' <br />''Vijayadharani joined the party in the presence of Union Minister L Murugan and the party's national secretary Arvind Menon, who is the poll in-charge for Tamil Nadu.<br />'' <br />''Congress leader Vijayadharani was elected as MLA from Vilvancode constituency in Kanyakumari district in 2021, where the BJP has a significant presence.<br />'' <br />''Addressing a press conference after joining the party Vijayadharani said that Leadership of PM Modi  is important to this country. She said under the leadership of PM Modi, India is placed quite high on the international level.<br />'' <br />''Vijayadharani added that she has been in Congress since the beginning her career but shifted to another party for the first time.<br />'' <br />''Vijayadharani was the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress and the Chief Whip of the Tamil Nadu Congress Legislature Party (CLP).<br />
