Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Pannerselvam has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to sanction one thousand crore rupees from the National Disaster Response Fund to the state for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction of Cyclone Vardah. <br/><br/>In a letter to Prime Minister yesterday, he has requested to send a central team to assess the damages caused. The Chief Minister chaired a review meeting with Ministers and officials on the rehabilition and relief work. The State opposition leader M.K Stalin has urged Chief Minister to visit Delhi to meet the Prime Minister and the Home Minister and brief them of the damages due to the cyclone. As there is an urgent need to restore normalcy in Chennai.Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts. <br/><br/>Mr Stalin asked the Chief Minister to demand the financial assistance immediately.The cyclone has also hit the interior districts like Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Namakkal and a few other districts of Tamilnadu as acres of irrigational lands.
