Tamil Nadu CM launches 3,401 mobile public distribution outlets in state

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy today launched 3401 mobile public distribution outlets in the state. The 'Amma Mobile Ration Shops' as they are called mainly serve families in remote, hilly and far-flung areas.
''
''For a full-fledged ration shop, a minimum number of eligible beneficiary families are made mandatory. However, in sparsely populated areas like hills and interior villages, the condition is not met and hence the public had to travel long to get ration through the PDS. The government has therefore launched mobile ration shop schemes long back to serve those areas. Today, 3401 mobile units were added which is considered the largest ever addition.
''
''The Chief Minister also introduced fortified rice distribution through the public distribution system in Tiruchirapalli district on a pilot basis.
