Tamilnadu Chief Minister, Ms. J. Jayalalitha has cancelled four percent Value Added Tax on LPG cylinder levied presently in the State. In a press release on Tuesday, Ms. Jayalalithasaid that since LPG cylinders were used by people of all strata of the society, the state government have done its maximum by canceling the four percent VAT tax even in future. Pointing out that the cancellation would result in reduction of 14.73 rupees per cylinder. She said, the State government would incur a loss of 120 crore rupees per year. According to the statement, the decision will come into effect from the first of July and LPG cylinder sold at 404.40 rupees would be sold as 389.67 rupees.
