Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has asked the Union Agriculture Ministry to enhance the Minimum Support Price, MSP, for milling grade copra.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''In a letter to the Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today, he has said the Centre has fixed its MSP as 99-rupees, 60-paise per kilogram. He has noted that it is inadequate to compensate the cost of production for the coconut growers.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''He has highlighted in the letter that the recent cyclones and the prevailing pandemic-led logistical challenges have caused increased expenses for the coconut growers.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Referring to the 150 per cent of the production cost being fixed for certain pulses and cereals as the MSP, he has stressed that at least 125 per cent of the cost should be given to the coconut growers for their milling copra product.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He said the MSP should be raised to at least 125 rupees per kilogram.</span><br />
