Tamil Nadu CM asks district collectors to complete relief works by Jan 5

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi has asked district collectors in the 10 flood affected districts to complete all relief works by the 5th of January. The Chief Minister who interacted with district collectors through video conferencing said the government had paid enhanced solatium to the families of those killed in rain related incidents and assistance to those who had lost their crops. Karunanidhi said 300 crores assistance had been sanctioned to be distributed among the affected people and another 200 crores in the second phase. Stating that the Tamil Nadu Government had sought an assistance of 1,832 crore rupees from the national calamity relief fund, the Chief Minister said a central team had visited the flood affected districts and presented their report. He said the state government is expecting that the centre will release the relief assistance.
