Tamil Nadu CM appeals Centre to grant special funds to combat Covid-19 pandemic

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy has appealed to the Centre to grant special funds to combat Covid-19 pandemic.<br />''During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction with the chief ministers of ten states, Mr Palaniswamy placed his requests for the funds and materials.<br />''<br />''He said the sustained efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 has helped in controlling the situation.<br />''Meanwhile, the total Covid-19 infection in the state has risen to more than 3,08,000 with 5834 people confirmed positive today. Over 2,50,000 of them have recovered.<br />'' <br />''AIR correspondent reports, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's interaction, Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy placed his demand for the Centre to give a special grant of Rs. 9000 crore to the state.<br />'' <br />''He said it is to make up for the loss of tax revenue during the pandemic, that may lead to a shortfall of the Budget Estimate.<br />'' <br />''He wanted the Centre's Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness package for the state to be enhanced to Rs. three thousand crore.<br />'' <br />''He also insisted releasing an ad-hoc grant of a thousand crore rupees under the National Disaster Relief Fund.<br />'' <br />''He sought help to procure high-end ventilators and asked to provide nearly 66-thousand metric tonnes of toor dal for supply through the public distribution system till November.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">He also requested to share half the cost of everyday testing of suspected Covid-19 cases.</span><br />
