Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms. J. Jayalalitha has announced an additional 700 crore rupees to carry out relief work and also as relief measures for the cyclone victims in the coastal districts of Cuddalore, parts of Villupuram and Nagapattinam. The Chief Minister will be visiting the affected areas to distribute the relief measures tomorrow. Ms.Jayalalitha in a statement after a high level review meeting today said that she will be handing over the relief measures to the beneficiaries. This include compensation for loss in agriculture, horticulture and fishing related activities and also road and electricity restoration. She has also ordered supply of 35,000 litres of Aavin milk to the cyclone hit areas. The Chief Minister has announced a compensation of five lakh rupees for the completely damaged mechanised boat and two lakh rupees to partially damaged ones. She has allotted 300 crore rupees to Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to immediately take up restoration work on war footing. Earlier on Tuesday, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Shipping Minister G.K. Vasan visited the cyclone hit areas of the state.
