<span style="color: #222222;">In Tamil Nadu, Chief Secretary K. Shanmugham today reviewed the COVID-19 situation in high prevalence districts. Meanwhile, the total infections in the state have gone up to more than five lakh seventy five thousand. In all, 5,647 people tested positive today including 1,187 in Chennai. The recoveries have mounted to over five lakh nineteen thousand.<br />''<br />''The Chief Secretary had interactions with officials in Chennai Corporation and the other high prevalence districts separately. In Chennai, it was stressed to increase daily testing and to bring the case positivity rate under five per cent. The need for special surveillance of markets and industries has been highlighted. He also interacted with the Collectors of 15 other districts. They included the adjoining districts of the state capital like Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur, the western small industry hubs like Coimbatore, Erode and Salem, the hosiery town of Tirupur and a few of the Delta and the northern districts. The hospital infrastructure including the beds capacity has been reviewed and the cause of the everyday spurt in new cases since the past few days has been asked to be analysed. Reducing the case mortality rate has been given the focus. </span><br />
