The waters of the iconic Cauvery river that irrigates the famed Delta Region in Tamil Nadu has entered its last two regulator barrages near Nagapattinam and Seerkazhi, late last night. The Cauvery water from Mettur has directly reached the final Pirunjumoola barrage, from where it will finally empty itself into the Bay of Bengal through the Harischandra river.<br />'' <br />''The major Mettur dam had been opened for irrigation on June 12th this year. Similarly, the river water from the Grand Anicut  which was opened on June 16th near Trichy, has reached the Melaiyoor barrage near Seerkazhi, after which it will empty into the Eastern sea at Poompuhar.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The Pirunjumoola barrage was formally declared open by the Tamil Nadu Textiles Minister O S Maniyan. He said that the state Public Works Department is in full readiness to ensure that the river waters are efficiently diverted to all water bodies and canals for ensuring timely availability of water for irrigation.</span><br />
