<br />''The Tamil Nadu principal opposition AIADMK coordinator O.Panneerselvam has urged the state government not to reduce the number of beneficiaries of the Old Age Pension scheme. In a statement issued in Chennai yesterday, he said, there are reports suggesting that a move is afoot to trim the number of beneficiaries on the basis of ownership of homes and other income criteria. Stating that many of the senior citizens are being taken care of by their children because of the pension they get, he has asked the government to continue to give it to all the present beneficiaries and also to add eligible new senior citizens.
