Home Minister P Chidambram on Thursday inaugurated the tallest building of New Delhi which will house the office of Municipal Corporation of Delhi. <br/> <br/>Expressing great pleasure in inaugurating Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic Centre, Mr. Chidambram remarked that the structure will be a landmark for many years to come. <br/> <br/>However he said that the work doesn't stop here and asked the Municipal Corporation to strive for world class quality that touches every part of the Capital. <br/> <br/>Senior BJP leader Mr. LK Advani, Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Sheila Dikshit and Mrs. Sushma Swaraj were also present on the occasion. Speaking at the occasion, Mr. L.K. Advani said it was heartening to see that the Government and Opposition had come together to make this project a success. <br/> <br/>Talking in context of the Earth Day, Mrs. Sheila Dikshit commended the Civic Centre for being an environment-friendly building. <br/> <br/>MCD has signed an MoU with Income Tax Department for leasing out 40% of built-up area with sharing of common facilities. This has resulted in huge generation of revenue for the Corporation.<br/><br/>
