Talks between executive pilots on strike and Air India Management is now on in New Delhi to resolve the deadlock and to discuss about their demands regarding the reduction in their productivity-linked incentives (PLIs). Two Air India flights Mumbai and Kabul were disrupted this morning as the pilots did not report for the duty. Earlier the national airlines' executive pilots have threatened to go on indefinite mass sick leave to protest aganist the massive cut in their salaries . Representative of executive pilots Captain Bhalla said that the pilots have taken a decision to go on strike because nobody is in the state of mind to work due to the salary cuts. This decision came in the wake of reduction in the pilots salary by 70 to 50 per cent by office order and another 20 per cent through hidden points without any prior notice. Mr. Bhalla alleged that the Chairman of Air India is trying to hire foreign pilots at the rate of $13,500 and wants Indian pilots to work for peanuts. An official source revealed that being a part of the airlines management, executive pilots cannot form a union and cannot go on strike.
