In Puducherry, confusion prevails as talks on seat sharing among political parties remain inconclusive, even as the deadline for filing of nominations comes to a close on Saturday. The ruling congress and the opposition AIADMK are holding back room parleys with smaller parties separately to forge a formidable alliance. The congress party is negotiating with PMK on seat allocation. The party has given 10 seats to its principal ally the DMK and has announced the first list of 17 candidates. A decision on allotting seats to the PMK is likely to be taken by Friday evening. The All India NR Congress headed by former Chief Minister Mr N. Rangaswamy has announced the names of 11 candidates to be fielded by the party. Mr Rangaswamy said the next list of candidates will be released on Friday, though he said an alliance may emerge. The left parties maintain that talks for forging an alliance with the AIADMK are on, even the CPI and CPM have released separate list of candidates. A total of 108 nominations have been filed so far, for the elections scheduled for the 13th of next month.
