The Governor of the Southern Afghan Province of Kandahar says two people were killed and 29 injured in a major assault by Taiban militants on the Provincial capital on yesterday. A number of Taliban also died in the attacks on the Governor's headquarters. Intelligence Service offices a police station and a shopping centre including at least six suicide bombers. The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said the Taliban are attempting to hide the defeat they have suffered with the killing of Osama bin Laden.
