On the eve of the eighth anniversary of the US-led military action to oust it from power, the Taliban has vowed to continue its deadly insurgency. The Taliban has warned foreign forces that it is prepared for a long light. The warning from the Taliban comes only days after a fierce clash in the remote mountains of eastern Afghanistan that killed eight US soldiers. NATO said the Taliban had suffered "significantly higher losses than originally thought". Hundreds of Taliban militant fighters on Saturday launched a dawn raid on two Afghan army and NATO outposts. The resulting firefight lasted into the night and led to US troops calling in air strikes.<br/>
