US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke says Taliban leaders are showing interest in talks with the Afghan government. In an interview with a private channel on Sunday, he said the war could not be won militarily and we are looking some kind of political aspect of this. He, however ruled out any talks with Al-Qaeda. Correspondents say Washington is encouraging Afghan President Hamid Karzai peace initiative toward the Taliban.Meanwhile, United Nations special representative for Afghanistan Staffan de Mistura said that he would help efforts to find a negotiated end to the war that has no military solution. He said Afghanistan needs and deserves a reconciliation and talks are the only way to end the fighting.
