The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the assassination of the deputy governor of Kandahar province Abdul Latif Ashna who was killed while leaving home for work. A suicide bomber riding a motorbike crashed into his convoy and blew himself up. His driver and several bodyguards were wounded in the attack.
