Taliban attack foiled in Afghanistan

In Afghanistan, security forces foiled an attack by Taliban militants on police headquarters in eastern province of Paktika today killing all the militants. The militants equipped with suicide vests and automatic weapons attacked the police headquarters in the center of Gardez city, the provincial capital before they were surrounded in a nearby market. The ensuing fight lasted for around four hours killing the five militants. Rohullah Samoon, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said seven civilians and four policemen were wounded during the fighting.
