In Afghanistan, at least one dozen civilians have been killed in the latest incidents of militant violence. Interior ministry said in a statement that Taliban militants ambushed a group of truck drivers in eastern Kunar province, killing six of the drivers and burning their vehicles.<br/> A seventh truck driver was kidnapped. In another incident yesterday, six people were killed when a private van hit a roadside bomb in northern Faryab province. Seven others were injured in the incident. The roadside bombs have become a major cause of deaths and injuries for both troops and civilians. A UN report said a total of 1,500 civilians died in Afghanistan up to August this year, a steady rise in last few years. Meanwhile, Police in western province of Nimroz shot dead two would-be suicide bombers before attacking any targets.
