Taking care of elderly is part of our family values: Rajnath

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has called Indians to build an India that becomes Vishva Guru, or the World Teacher. Referring to the values of life including serving the elderly, he said, our civilization and cultural values should inspire and motivate the world's citizens. The Minister was addressing the gathering after launching the project 'Empowering Elderly through Young Generation', organized by an NGO in New Delhi yesterday.<br/><br/>Mr. Singh said, taking care of the senior citizens is not only part of our family system but this has been enshrined in the Directive Principles of State Policy. The Minister said, young children must inherit the traditional values to serve the elderly. He said, this will become more vital since the elderly population of our country, which stands at over 10 crores at present, is projected to rise to over 30 crores by the year 2050.
