Take strict action against people destroying public property during agitations: SC

The Supreme Court today said, strict action must be taken against individuals or political parties that destroy public property during any of their agitations.The bench headed by Justice JS Khehar said this while hearing a plea filed by Hardik Patel challenging sedition charges against him. <br/><br/>Expressing concern over damage to public property during the Patel agitation, the apex court noted that the country cannot be held to ransom by agitations. It added that BJP, Congress or any other organisation can be held accountable for damage to property during agitations.<br/><br/>The top court also said it would lay down parameters to fix accountability for damage of property during agitations.<br/><br/>The court had in its previous hearing on Hardik's plea expanded its ambit to examine the issue of damage to public property during last year's Patel reservation agitation led by Hardik
