Taj corridor case: BSP to challenge High Court notice

In Uttar Pradesh the National General Secretary of ruling Bahujan Samaj Party Mr. Satish Chandra Mishra has said that notices issued by the Allahabad High Court to the Chief Minister Ms. Mayawati and her Cabinet colleague Mr. Naseemuddin Siddiqui in the Taj corridor case will be challenged in the Supreme Court. He has said that earlier three times writs were filed in the apex court on this issue and were rejected by the court.<br/><br/>A Division Bench of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Justice Pradip Kant and Justice Sabehul Hasnain has issued notices after hearing PILs challenging the special CBI court order dated June 5, 2007 by which the proceedings were dropped against the two in the case. The court has accepted the PILs for hearing.<br/><br/>The petitioners had challenged the CBI court's said order saying that it was bad in the eyes of law as there was no need to seek the prosecution sanction from the UP Governor for proceeding in the case.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has also issued notices to Lucknow Development Authority vice chairman and joint director, land acquisition and directed them to appear in person on 21st of next month in a contempt case.<br/><br/>Justice S S Chauhan has passed this order on a contempt petition. The petitioner has alleged that despite the court's order for status quo some activities were being carried out around some places of Ramabai Rally Sthal by the LDA, including inviting tenders for the same.
