Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen says, she will seek the truth about a crackdown on anti-government protesters 70 years ago. Speaking at a memorial service to mark the 70th anniversary of the incident known as "228 incident", Tsai said the past will not stay in the past without the truth. She said,the government will set up an independent body to investigate and reveal where the responsibility for the suppression lies. <br/><br/>The incident occurred after the Chinese Nationalist Party moved to Taiwan from mainland China following the end of Japanese rule. More than 18,000 people are said to have died during the violent crackdown on February 28th, 1947.
