U.S. stocks retreated as S&P 500 and Nasdaq end five-session winning streaks

U.S. stocks retreated on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq snapping five-session winning streaks as retailers declined after some disappointing outlook. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.2 percent, the S&P 500 slipped by 0.2 percent and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.7 percent.

US stock indexes jump snapping longest weekly losing streak

Wall Street gained more than one and half percent yesterday as investors sought bargains among sectors hardest-hit by the coronavirus recession, now limping toward its ninth month. All three major U.S. stock indexes jumped snapping the longest weekly losing streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.5 a percent, the S&P 500 climbed 1.6 percent while the Nasdaq Composite index surged 1.9 percent.
