US stocks closed mostly flat yesterday following mixed corporate earnings from major US companies. The dollar was on the back foot as investors remained cautious ahead of an expected 25 basis point hike in interest rates by the U.S. Federal Reserve next month.   The S&P 500 lost 0.01 percent and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.23 percent while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.03 percent.
