Three major US indices fall after abrupt mid-afternoon nosedive ended Wall Street's rally

The three major US indices fell more than one percent yesterday after an abrupt mid-afternoon nosedive ended Wall Street's impressive rally, which had been driven by falling interest rates and the Federal Reserve's dovish turn.   The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.3 percent. The Nasdaq Composite index and the S&P 500, both slipped 1.1 percent.
