Sensex, Nifty witness fall during week ended on Friday

The Sensex and the Nifty fell during the week ended on Friday. Sensex plunges 433 points, Nifty settles at 11,178

Domestic equity benchmarks today plunged more than one percent, tracking negative global markets. The 30-share BSE index, Sensex, settled 433 points or 1.13 per cent lower at 37,877. Sensex rises 142 pts to end at 38,182; Nifty gains 56 pts to 11,270

After rallying 390 points during the day, the 30-share BSE benchmark pared some gains to end 142 points or 0.37 per cent higher at 38,182.   The NSE Nifty climbed 56 points or 0.50 per cent to close at 11,270.   In the broader market at BSE, the Mid-cap closed 1.42 percent up and Small-cap gained 1.47 percent.

Sensex declines 129 points; Nifty settles at 11,074

Domestic equity benchmarks today dropped marginally, tracking losses in index heavyweights amid mixed cues from global markets. Sensex plummets 1,203 pts; Niffty ends at 8,254

At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock exchange plummeted 1,203 points, or 4.1 percent, to 28,265, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange tanked 344 points, or 4 percent, to end at 8,254.

Sensex rises 61pts; Nifty settles at 11,269

Sensex drops over 200 points in early trade

Benchmark Sensex dropped over 200 points when markets opened today. Traders said that investors turned wary amid subdued quarterly results by key index constituents and negative cues from global markets. The S&P BSE Sensex index fell as much as 227.28 points to hit 41,301.63 in early trade and the broader NSE Nifty benchmark declined to as low as 12,162.45, down 62.1 points from its previous close.  Meanwhile, Rupee declined 6 paise to 71.17 against US dollar in opening trade.

Chinese Stock markets plunge to lowest levels in four years

In China, stock markets today plunged to their lowest levels in four years  following a global rout, with shares in around 1,000 firms falling to their daily limit of 10 per cent. Shanghai fell 142.38 points, marking the lowest level since November 2014. The Shenzhen Composite Index, plummeted 89.15 points, its lowest point since September 2014.
