Dow Jones, S&P 500 surged 1.1 percent; Nasdaq climbs 1.3 percent

The three major US stocks climbed more than one percent yesterday. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted record closing highs after upbeat earnings and data suggesting the labor market may be stabilizing. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500, both surged 1.1 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index climbed 1.3 percent.
