Dow closes almost flat, S&P 500 declines 0.2 percent

Wall Street's main indexes ended lower day amid data that showed U.S. jobs grew far less than expected in September amid a decline in government payrolls.   The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed almost flat, the S&P 500 declined 0.2 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index tumbled half a percent.
