Simona Halep of Romania withdraws from this year's Wimbledon Tennis due to calf injury

Defending Wimbledon women's champion Simona Halep of Romania has withdrawn from this year's Wimbledon due a calf injury. The 29-year-old world No. 3 player suffered a tear in her left calf during her second-round match against Germany's Angelique Kerber at the Italian Open in Rome in mid-May. She was also forced to withdraw from the French Open following that injury. Halep had won the Wimbledon in 2019 but it was cancelled in 2020 due to the Corona pandemic.
