The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed modest falls after a record setting rally in previous sessions. Sensex, Nifty close with modest gains

The Sensex and the Nifty today closed with modest gains. The domestic stocks rose amid the gains in global equity markets as investors sentiment boosted after the many big companies world-wide posted good profit for the quarter ended last month.   The Sensex added 28 points, or 0.06 percent, to finish at 48,832. The Nifty also climbed 36 points, or 0.25 percent, to settle at 14,618.

Benchmark domestic stocks plunge around one and half per cent in intra-day trade

Benchmark domestic stocks today plunged around one and half per cent in intra-day trade. The Sensex and Nifty logged losses amid mixed global cues.   The BSE Sensex was trading 738 points, or 1.53 per cent, down at 47,610. The NSE Nifty also declined 208 points, or 1.46 per cent to trade at 14,031.    At the forex market, the rupee appreciated 14 paise to Rs 72.81 against the US dollar in afternoon deals.

Sensex, Nifty post fresh all time highs

Sensex rises 86 points, Nifty settles at 12,720

Domestic benchmark stocks today logged marginal gains amid mixed global cues. The BSE 30-share index, Sensex, rose 86 points or 0.2 percent to settle at 43,443. The NSE Nifty-50 index also added 29 points or 0.23 percent to settle at 12,720.   The broader market at BSE also surged. Outperforming the Sensex, the BSE Mid-Cap index climbed 0.86 percent and the BSE Small-Cap index zoomed 1.12 percent.

Benchmark domestic stocks today gained more than one and half percent amid positive global cues. The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 629 points, or 1.65 percent, to close at 38,697. The Nifty at National Stock Exchange also surged 169 points, or 1.51 percent, to settle at 11,417. The broader market at BSE underperformed the Sensex.
