Sensex closes above 57,800 points, Nifty ends above 17,000

The Sensex and the Nifty today climbed around two percent. Both domestic key stock indices rose in sync with gains in global share markets. The BSE Sensex closed above 57,800 points while the NSE Nifty ended near 17,300 level. The rupee also appreciated to settle below 76 rupees per US dollar mark. Sensex plunges 581 points, Nifty finishes at 17,110

The Sensex and the Nifty today tumbled around one percent. Both stocks declined amid negative cues from the global equity markets. The Sensex closed below 57,300 and the Nifty ended near 17,100 level.   The BSE Sensex plunged 581 points, or one percent to settle at 57,277 and the NSE Nifty lost 168 points, or 0.97 percent, to finish at 17,110.

Sensex plunges 427 points, Nifty settles at 17617

The Sensex and the Nifty today fell more than 0.7 percent. Both stocks declined amid negative cues from the global equity markets. The Sensex finished near the 59,000 mark while the Nifty ended near 17,600 level.   The BSE Sensex plunged 427 points, or 0.72 percent to close at 59,037. The NSE Nifty also lost 140 points, or 0.79 percent, to settle at 17,617.   In the forex market, the rupee appreciated eight paise to close at 74 rupees and 43 paise against the US dollar.

Sensex regains 60,000 mark; Nifty reclaims 17,900 level

The Sensex and the Nifty today climbed more than half a percent in the afternoon trade. Both stocks extended gains amid mixed global cues. The Sensex regained the 60,000 mark while the Nifty reclaimed 17,900 level. The BSE Sensex climbed 367 points, or 0.61 percent to trade at 60,223. Bombay Stock Exchange climbs 460 points; Nifty ends at 18,477

At the stock markets, rising for the seventh straight day, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 460 points, or 0.8 percent, to end at another all-time high of 61,766, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange advanced 139 points, or 0.8 percent, to a fresh record high of 18,477.

Domestic markets surged nearly 1.2% during week

Rising for the fourth straight week, domestic markets surged nearly 1.2 percent during the week primarily led by the strong gains in Banking, IT and Auto stocks. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 711 points, 1.2 percent during the week, to close at 59,016 yesterday. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 216 points, or 1.2 percent, to end at 17,585. In the broader market, the BSE Mid-cap and Small indices added over 1 percent each.

Sensex drops 163 points to end at 55,629

 At the stock markets, erasing all its early gains, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange dropped 163 points, or 0.3 percent, to end at 55,629, today. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange slipped 46 points, to 16,569. Both the Sensex and Nifty hit its record intra-day highs, in the morning session.
