Rupee settles 28 paise higher at 73.61 against US dollar

The rupee today strengthened by 28 paise to settle at 73 rupees and 61 paise against the US dollar, as gains in domestic equities buoyed investor sentiment. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, was trading 0.01 per cent up at 94.36.
