Rupee appreciates 9 paise to Rs 74.28 against US dollar

The rupee today appreciated nine paise to close at 74 rupees and 28 paise against the US dollar. The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, fell 0.3 percent to trade at 92.05 in intra-day trade.
