Rupee appreciates 7 paise to close at Rs 73.11 against US dollar

The rupee today appreciated seven paise to close at Rs 73.11 against the US dollar. The domestic unit strengthened mainly due to weakness in the US currency.  The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, fell 0.22 per cent to 89.24 in intraday deals.
