Rupee appreciates 63 paise against US currency

In the forex market, the rupee today appreciated 63 paise against the US currency. The domestic unit closed at Rs 81.97 against the US dollar. The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was down 0.27 percent to trade at 104.74 in intra-day trade.
