Rani Rampal to captain Indian women's hockey team on England tour

In Hockey, star forward Rani Rampal was today named the captain of the 18-member Indian Women's team which will take on England in a five-match series. The series is scheduled to take place in Marlow, England from 27th of this month to 4th of next month. Rani will have goalkeeper Savita as her deputy. India's success against top-ranked nations this year has instilled a new self-belief,   feels skipper Rani Rampal.  She said it also helped the women's hockey team shed its underdog tag.  It may be recalled that the Indian women's hockey team won a historic silver at the 18th Asian Games and another silver at the Asian Champions Trophy this year.  They also finished at the quarterfinals at the World Cup in London and ended at the fourth place at the Commonwealth Games....

Rani Rampal named captain for women's hockey team for tour of Korea

Ace striker Rani Rampal was today named the captain of a 20-strong Indian women's hockey team for next month's series against Korea. Announcing this, chief coach Harendra Singh said in New Delhi that Korea Tour will help to analyse the areas that require improvement ahead of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.  He said the team have a good mix of experienced players who will play an important role of guiding some of the youngsters in the team.  India will play five matches again...
