Sensex climbs 371 points; Nifty surges 125 points

The Sensex and the Nifty today gained more than half a percent in the afternoon trade amid positive global cues. The Sensex was trading above the 58,500 mark while the Nifty was trading above the 17,450 level. The Sensex climbed 371 points, or 0.64 percent to trade at 58,513 while the Nifty surged 125 points, or 0.72 percent, to 17,477, when reports last came in.

Sensex, Nifty witness modest gains in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today witnessed modest gains in afternoon trade. Both stocks added more than 0.3 percent amid mixed global cues. The Sensex was trading above 56,100 while the Nifty was trading above 16,700 level. The BSE Sensex gained 184 points, or 0.33 percent, to trade at 55,132. Benchmark domestic stocks today fell around 0.4 per cent amid weak Asian market cues. Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange closed 143 points, or 0.39 per cent, down at 36,594.
