Stocks on Wall Street close mixed, Nasdaq Composite index rises 0.3 percent

Stocks on Wall Street closed mixed yesterday, pressured by worries about U.S. lawmakers opposed to a deal to raise the debt ceiling, but supported by another surge in Nvidia shares that lifted the chipmaker into a 1 trillion company.   The Nasdaq Composite index rose 0.3 percent, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.15 percent. The S&P 500 traded flat.
